In cooperation with the Latvian Information Technology Cluster, SIA Lattelecom Technology is carrying out the project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund "Building the Export Capacity of Latvian IT companies and Capturing of Trade Markets", which is aimed at developing and expanding the exports of the products and services developed by IT companies.

Latvian IT Industry Marketing Activities in Foreign Countries in 2015

In cooperation with the Latvian Information Technology Cluster, SIA Lattelecom Technology is implementing the project "Latvian IT Industry Marketing Activities in Foreign Countries in 2015", co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and targeted at the promotion of export of the products developed by the IT companies involved in the project.

 

The project is implemented within the 2nd Operational Programme Entrepreneurship and Innovation, sub-activity 2.3.1.1.1 "Capturing external markets: external marketing".

Competence centre news at the beginning of 2015

On 11.04.2011 SIA "IT kompetences centrs" signed the contract No. L-KC-11-0003 with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) to implement the "Information and communication technology competence centre" project, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).Thirty-five studies are being conducted in two main fields, business process analysis technology and natural language processing technology.

 

On 31 October 2014, the new Cabinet of Ministers Rules No. 361 came into effect, extending the deadline for implementing the Competence centre support programme project until 31 December 2015.

 

At the end of 2014, the IT competence centre was able to procure additional funds, which is why the current list of studies has been expanded, with three new studies introduced:

 

  • Study No. 1.3 "Monolithic systems decomposition method compliant with the principles of SOA." Its goal is to develop a methodology that could be used to analyse the current legacy monolithic systems and offer the decomposition of these systems into modules according to the SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) principles.
    The study is conducted by VISMA Enterprise in cooperation with its scientific partner, Riga Technical University.
  • Study No. 2.11 "On the applicability of the cloud-based paradigm to language technology-related services." Its goal is to conduct a complex and original study in order to gain new knowledge in creating cloud-based language technology services and developing a prototype service that could increase the competitiveness of companies by offering language technologies to a broad client base in an innovative way.
    The study is conducted by SIA SQUALIO in cooperation with SIA Tilde.
  • Study No. 2.12 "The adaption of a voice recognition system towards processing low-quality audio files." Study goals: (1) conduct a field-specific study of low-quality audio files to advance speech technologies in the Latvian language; (2) increase the precision of voice recognition in bad audio recordings, and study the possibilities for processing audio files by specifying the types of audio that cannot be recognised (e.g. music, commercials).
    The study is conducted by SIA LETA in cooperation with the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Latvia.

In cooperation with Latvian Information Technology Cluster, SIA Lattelecom Technology has been carrying out the project Promoting the Competitiveness of Latvian IT Sector on Export Markets co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and aimed at promoting exports of the products developed by the IT sector companies involved in the project.

Project "Export Activities of IT Companies 2013"

Lattelecom Technology, in association with Latvian IT Cluster, is in the process of carrying out the European Regional Development Fund co-financed Project "Export Activities of IT Companies 2013" which aims to promote exporting of the IT products designed  by Project Partners. 

The Project is carried out within the framework of 2nd Operational Programme "Entrepreneurship and Innovations" sub-activity 2.3.1.1.1. "Access to International Trade Markets – External Marketing". Project ID number:  ĀTA/2.3.1.1.1/13/51/053; number of the agreement entered into with State agency Investment and Development Agency of Latvia: L-ĀTA-13-1618.

Participation in trade mission to Russia , Yekaterinburg

From 16 – 20 October 2013 Lattelecom participated in the trade mission to Russia, Yekaterinburg, initiated by the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LTRK). 
The trade mission aimed to establish and develop bilateral contacts with the merchants of the relevant region. 

Supported by Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the businessmen participated in multiple contact exchange workshops and individual meetings liaising future business opportunities with potential business partners, visiting the company’s, and meeting with the officials of the Sverdlovsk Oblast Administration Body.   

Yekaterinburg is located in the Sverdlovsk Oblast, in the middle part of the Urals, and is well known as heavy industry and automobile manufacturing centre, trunk railway and the fourth largest city in Russia (by population).

The trade mission was conducted within the framework of ESF Programme  sub-activity "Access to International Trade Markets – External Marketing".

Industry surveys conducted within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund Project
"Setting up of Information and Communications Technology Competency Centre" 

In the early part of 2013 Lattelecom, Baltijas Datoru Akadēmija and Lattelecom Technology commenced the Project "Setting up of Information and Communications Technology Competency Centre” (Agreement No. L-KC-11-0003). Within the framework of the Project the following industry surveys have been conducted:

 

1) "Development of competency based  HR management  model";

2) "Development of an universal and open competency based model by which to enable quality planning of the company’s employee career growth and ensure conformity of the model with the company’s development strategies";

3) "Development of e-training based knowledge management solution"

 

The Project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

Participation in International Forum "Around Cloud. Business and Information Technologies” (ACBI 2013) and in the 6th Conference

2013

On 19 October 2013 Lattelecom participated in the International Forum "Around Cloud. Business and Information Technologies" (ACBI 2013), but on 20 February the company attended the 6th Conference "Networks and Business" – Data Centres 2013 which was held in Ukraine, Kyiv.

Lattelecom aimed to establish and develop bilateral contacts with the merchants of the region and to increase awareness of   Lattelecom IT infrastructure solutions and the benefits offered by the newly established Data Centre DATTUM.

Participation in the International Forum and Conference was enabled within the framework of the  ESF Programme  sub-activity "Access to International Trade Markets – External Marketing".

Participation in trade mission to Ukraine  (Kyiv, Odessa )

From 14 – 15 March 2013 Lattelecom participated in the trade mission "Official visit of the President of the Republic of Latvia Andris Bērziņš to Ukraine (Kyiv, Odessa)” organised jointly by Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

 

The trade mission aimed to enable negotiation with the potential clients and business partners of Lattelecom Data Centre DATTUM and to increase awareness of Lattelecom Data Centre DATTUM services.

 

Supported by Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ukraine – Latvia 2 day Business Forum was held. In addition, the Latvian businessmen also visited the Maritime Art Gallery of Odessa Commercial Sea Port and participated in informal meetings liaising future business with Ukrainian merchants.

 

The trade mission was conducted within the framework of ESF Programme  sub-activity "Access to International Trade Markets – External Marketing".

IT Competence Centre in Summer 2014

IT Competence Centre has signed a contract No.L-KC-11-0003 with Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIDA) about the implementation of the project "Competence centre of information and telecommunication technologies” co financed by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

 

By the end of July 2014 13 research projects have been finished; 5 of them from Natural language technologies direction and 8 from Business process analyses technologies direction. 19 research projects are still in progress and are planned to be finished till middle of 2015.

 

By the end of July 2014 9 interim reports (payment requests) have been handed in to LIDA for a total amount of attributable costs of 6’549’252,70 EUR which allow for a total amount of grant of 4’564’744,96 EUR  from ERDF. From this total Competence Centre has already received 3’171’731,77 EUR while the last reports handed in are still in revision.

Together with the usual reports the first report for publications for individual research No.2.2 "Viedu daudzvalodu e-mācību materiālu veidošanas metožu un algoritmu izstrāde" by AS "Datorzinību centrs" has been prepared. With the 6th interim report the advance payment of 2011 to IT Competence Centre has been absorbed. At the same time 8th interim report has already allowed to request more than half of the funds allocated to the project by ERDF.

Provision of virtualization services to the corporate segment customers using the cloud-computing platform and infrastructure

 

On 24 September 2014, SIA Lattelecom concluded the contract No. L-APV-14-0195 with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia on the implementation of the project No. APV/2.1.2.4.0/14/04/089 Provision of virtualization services to the corporate segment customers using the cloud-computing platform and infrastructure. (High value-added investments (round 4)).

 

Within the scope of the project, high value-added investments will be made to enable the provision by SIA Lattelecom of a new high value-added service, having acquired the equipment necessary to provide the service.

 

Within the scope of the project, investments for the provision of a new service New Cloud will be made.

 

On 15 November 2015, the Corporate customer cloud-computing platform became fully operational.

 

Total cost of the project amounts to 2,723,335.94 EUR, whereas the required public financing amounts to 909,495.77 EUR.

Project "IT KVAP – Information Technology Cluster Embassies, Academy, Platforms"

SIA "Lattelecom Technology" as a cooperation partner of the Latvian IT cluster implements the project "IT KVAP – Information Technology Cluster Embassies, Academy, Platforms" co-financed by the European Regional Development Foundation and the goal of which is to improve competitiveness of the field and increase export by strengthening cooperation between IT companies and research and education institutions to eliminate the gap between offer and demand in the sphere of specific IT competences, to establish a common network of IT cluster's embassies / agents abroad, as well as to promote improvement of specific technological platforms.

To achieve interim goals of the Latvian IT Cluster, actions will be carried out in the key directions:

 

1) Strengthening capacity and improving competence of cluster's specialists;
2) Educational direction – preparing competent specialists;
3) Promotion of exports – establishing a network of agents;
4) Improvement of technological platforms and standards;
5) Development of Riga IT Demo Centre as a marketing tool of the Latvian IT brand;
6) Acquiring new technological niches and developing those on a global level.

Total budget: EUR 525,355.89
ERDF budget: EUR 426,861.54

 

The Project is implemented within the framework of Action program 1 "Entrepreneurship and innovations" Activity 2.3.2.3 "Clusters Program". The Project identification No. KAP/2.3.2.3.0/12/01/002, contract No. L-KAP-12-0008 concluded between the association "Latvian Information Technologies Cluster" and state agency "Investment and Development Agency of Latvia".

 

During the Project SIA "Lattelecom Technology" participated in activities organised by the Latvian IT Cluster Academy, providing cooperation of technology experts and industry with universities in the IT sphere. Additional information is available at the home page of IT Cluster.

 

During the Project the company participated in the development and distribution of common marketing concept and materials within the Latvian E-health subcluster thereby promoting opportunities of exports in the European Union and outside it. SIA "Lattelecom Technology" as the member of the Latvian IT Cluster was represented at exports promotion visit to Croatia meeting with representatives of government, non-governmental organisations and IT industry to acquire new export markets and obtain cooperation partners.

Program Extension for Competence Centers

IT Competence Centre has signed a contract No.L-KC-11-0003 with Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIDA) about the implementation of the project "Competence centre of information and telecommunication technologies" co financed by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). 33 research projects are implemented in two prioritized directions – technologies of business process analysis and natural language technologies.

 

On October 30, 2014 Ministry of Economics has proposed changes in the Competence centre support program which will give the opportunity for the competence centers to do additional research in new product development by extending the project implementation day until December 31, 2015. Changes in financial agreements between competence centers and LIDA are planned to be signed in November 2014.

In cooperation with the Latvian Information Technology Cluster, SIA Lattelecom Technology has been carrying out the project "Promoting the Exports of the Goods and Services of the IT Sector in Foreign Markets", co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, which is aimed at promoting the exports of the products and services developed by the partners of the project to foreign markets.
